The short answer

Egg freezing preserves unfertilized reproductive cells. Embryo freezing requires eggs to be fertilized first using partner or donor sperm. The choice depends on your medical circumstances and reproductive decisions. Both options require assessment, consent and storage arrangements, and neither can guarantee a future pregnancy.

What should you consider before deciding?

Your medical situation

The age at which eggs are collected and the expected ovarian response are part of the assessment. The number of eggs recovered, their maturity and subsequent development cannot be guaranteed in advance.

Your personal decisions

Ask what choosing a sperm source now would involve, how consent is documented and what alternatives exist if your plans change. Your decision does not have to follow someone else’s preferences.

Storage arrangements are part of the decision

Before signing, request written details about renewals, payment notices, keeping your contact information current, authorization for use and available options if you decide not to continue. Clarify who may issue instructions and what happens if you cannot be reached.

The international sources in this guide explain medical issues. Their storage laws must not be assumed to apply in Mexico.

Questions for your assessment

  • What response is realistic in my circumstances?
  • What exactly is included in retrieval and laboratory work?
  • How is storage charged if I have several types of samples?
  • What will thawing and future use cost?
  • What happens if my personal or reproductive plans change?

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a partner to freeze my eggs?

Sperm is not needed to store unfertilized eggs. Medical assessment and consent are reviewed before starting.

Does embryo freezing always offer a better chance?

There is no universal answer. Prognosis depends on the age and quality of the eggs, embryo development and other individual factors.

Does the initial price cover all future treatment?

Do not assume it does. Request separate details for storage, thawing, fertilization when needed, preparation and transfer.

Are the six included months the maximum storage period?

They are the storage period included in ViaFERT’s published price. Continued storage is subject to the agreement, renewals and applicable consent.
